Parcells held his customary short press conference on Friday mornings, here's what he had to say.
Aaron Glenn is going to attempt to practice today.
(Chiefs RB) Larry Johnson had to make an adjustment in the NFL, sitting behind Priest Holmes may have slowed him. Now that he's getting the opportunities, he's a big back, runs inside the tackles and catches the ball, he's taking advantage.
The 3-4 defensive front provides less schemes for the offense to use, it forces the offense to block one-on-one and if you can hold your own there, you have a chance to be a good defense. Terence Newman, Roy Williams, Bradie James, Scott Shanle have all improved and are helping the defense.
Once again he talked about the danger Dante Hall represents on special teams, and noted that they are getting much better production on offense now that LT Willie Roaf is back.
The Cowboys have done a lot of work and studied all the shifting and motion that KC does on offense, in the end you have to recognize their final formation and then use discipline to stop them.
After a reporter asked if Barber was better at being his own blocker than Julius (reference yesterday's press conference) Parcells got a little perturbed and chided the reporter about his questions then eventually asked the reporter "if he wanted the coach's job". When the reporter said "if I get the paycheck" Parcells replied "I'm not up here for paychecks, I'm here to win". Then a reporter asked if he was having fun like Vermeil is having fun. At this point, Parcells said "I'm not getting into all this psychological junk" about whose happy, whose a better player and cut-off the press conference by stating he had to go to practice.
The reporters are beginning to irritate Parcells this week, which I take as a good sign. It means Parcells has a short fuse lately and Parcells seems to do better when he is mad.

Or he's on the verge of quitting- either one... ;-)

I dont think Bill will quit, he really likes the talent and the direction his team is heading, yes he still has work to do on the O-Line and offense in general, the scouting department was revamped and he's got the coaches in place that he likes, though I wish we had Hudson Hauck and Steve Hoffman, but another few offseason moves and another great draft, he'll get this team ready to compete for a superbowl next year.I can see Jerry signing bill to a two year extension by the start of next season.

I really hope Bill stays for at least a few more years until he has assembled a championship caliber team. I think he'll retool the O line next year like he did the D line this year which should set us up for a super bowl run. The only thing I'm concerned about is acquiring a young franchise qb for the future. I get the feeling Drew Henson isn't the answer.

I agree about the QB situation. I'd like to see Dallas get a younger guy in there who can take over once Drew leaves or retires. Someone not named Henson.
I also don't think Bill will leave this year. He seems to leave when he thinks he's gotten all he can out of a team. He's nowhere near that point in Dallas. If they had another year like last year, I could see him leaving in frustration--but things are definitely looking up now.

you know people are pointing the finger in the wrong direction...Bledsoe has this innate ability to make a offensive line look bad...you could have 4 pro-bowlers in front of him and they'd evenually fall apart. He was let go by the Pats, Bills for a reason ..he hangs onto the ball, gets happy feet, and will not throw the ball away....Dallas could spend the next two years re-building that line and with Bledsoe there it will just be the same....his confidence is shot, so it filters to everyone from the line on down...I watched every Bill sgame and it's the same within a second of the ball being snapped Bledsoe is looking at the line, his feet moving, his eyes aren't downfield..last week he had many opportunities to throw the ball away, make plays he won't, he can't he's been cut twice for a reason/....

Doug,
If you watched Bledsoe last year in Buffalo, who ended up winning 9 of it last 13 games by the way, then the game last week in New York should of brought back memories, it the O-line, not the Quarterback thats the problem, Time and time again, bledsoe doesn't even have time to set up to look to through down field. Why is it when Brett favre hangs in the pocket and holds on to the ball to long to make a play, everyone says he trying to make a play, but when Bledsoe does it, he hangs on to the ball too long.We have no consistant running game, who's fault is that, Bledsoe's, Julius Jones, or just maybe its the offensive line that gets no push and cant sustain blocks. The offensive line in Buffalo was horrible in the beginning of the year contributing to their 0-4 start and marginally got better throughout the year. bledsoe was going to be a cap casualty in New England,so they made the trade to Buffalo and remember Bledsoe lead the Patriots to the superbowl under Bill Parcells and came off the bench in the Championship game in pittsburgh after brady was injured and lead the team to the victory, a year, when bledsoe lost his job to brady earlier in the year after an injury that occured after a vicious hit that collapsed drews lung against the Jets. Drew is in the same Mold as troy Aikman, give him time in the pocket and he'll pick your defense apart.

the following is from Bledsoe himself he knows he puts a lot of pressure on the o-Line ...and yes I watched the Bills all the time and a lot of the time it was just Bledsoe not making the play....look at P. Manning he makes plays when he is hit, all the good ones do...to compare Bledsoe to Aikman is just ludicrous
Bledsoe, a pocket passer, said he would like to have a few passes back, especially against the Giants. He even admits to falling into the old trap of holding the ball too long in an effort to make a play, which he was often criticized for in Buffalo.
"You want to be successful on every play, but there comes a point when a play has reached its potential and you either chuck it out of bounds or take the sack and not turn it over," Bledsoe said. "It's a battle I have fought my entire career. That is my challenge."

Payton Manning is never touched, he's got all day, because of his O-line.
"To compare Bledsoe to Aikman is just ludicrous" It is!! their the same type of Quarterback. big, strong Arm, leaders, pocket passers and lead their teams to the superbowls. Troy had alot better line and talent around him.
Dont read to much into comments that Quarterbacks or other players make, thats what they all say, what do you expect them to say, thats what a leader does or a good teamate does, puts it on himself, you never throw another player or your offensive line under the bus. Do you think if they asked Rivera the same question, that he would say Bledsoe held on the ball too long, NO, he would say he has to do a better job at blocking. All reporters try to make something out of nothing to sell papers and you wonder why bill gets pissed off at reporters, they ask the dumbest questions, like after you lost two games in a row, is this an important game for you team, DUH!!!!!what do you think!!!!!!!
Posted by: Deke | December 09, 2005 at 08:32 PM
if he's so valuable why did the Bills bail on him....you'd think they'd want to keep a guy as you say that won 9 of his last 13...why...Aikman is, was a far superior leader to Bledsoe a hall of famer, utilized every player on the field as welll as handled all the egos from Irvin,Smith, etc...Bledsoe's on his 3rd team at 32...sure he can pass, is a classic drop-back passer but he has major weaknesses and that's why the offence has not been as diversified as it should be..Parcells knows Bledsoe better then anyone and he's a stop-gap guy better then testaverde but not the answer....
